Short bio — 50 words
Nova Rey is an alt-pop songwriter and producer whose third album, Afterglow Signal, was written across three cities and mixed in ten days. The Midnight Frequency tour takes the record through Asia and North America in 2026, with a stage design built alongside the songs themselves.
Medium bio — 150 words
Nova Rey writes alt-pop that keeps one foot in the room it was recorded in. The project began with eight demos tracked on a borrowed interface in a fourth-floor apartment; three records later, the working method has barely changed — write fast, record live, argue about it afterwards.
Afterglow Signal, released in August 2026, was made with the touring band playing together rather than in isolation, and mixed in a single ten-day stretch. Its lighting design was drafted from the same session file as the mix, which is why the live show follows the record so closely.
The Midnight Frequency tour opens in Ho Chi Minh City in October 2026 and runs through fourteen cities. Rey handles production and sequencing personally, and every announcement is published through the artist’s own newsroom before it reaches social platforms.
Long bio — full
Nova Rey started as a set of apartment recordings and became, without ever quite intending to, a touring act with a stage design of its own. The City Apartment Demos — eight songs cut on a borrowed interface between shifts — circulated for two years before being formally released in 2025, by which point the live show had already outgrown the rooms that first booked it.
The debut EP First Light established the method: write quickly, record the band in one room, and resist the urge to fix a performance that is telling the truth. Neon Weather (2025) pushed it further, recorded live to tape with no overdubs across five days.
Afterglow Signal (2026) is the widest record of the three and the most deliberate. Written between three cities during eighteen months of intermittent touring, it was assembled in a single ten-day mix, with the lighting designer working from the same session file. That overlap is the reason the Midnight Frequency show reads as one continuous piece rather than a set list with lights attached.
Rey produces and sequences personally, runs the newsroom that publishes every announcement, and has kept the catalogue and masters with the artist through the 2026 distribution agreement with Atlas Records.
